The Huawei MateBook X Pro (2020) is the top model in Huawei’s MateBook line, a hardware refresh of the version released the year before. It aims at users who want a laptop that is easy to carry yet still holds capable internals. This review covers the MateBook X Pro (2020) across its design and display, performance, ports and connectivity, multi-screen features, and battery.
Design & Display
The MateBook X Pro (2020) weighs 1.3 kg and measures 14.6 mm thick, built around a solid metal case that keeps it easy to carry. The webcam hides inside a pop-up key in the keyboard, which keeps the screen bezels slim and removes the need to tape over the camera for privacy. The fingerprint sensor sits in the power button and reads quickly, so users can sign in to Windows without typing a password. The backlit keyboard and touchpad handle daily typing and navigation well, and four speakers set on both sides of the keyboard give clear sound for music and video.

The display measures 13.9 inches with a 91% screen-to-body ratio, a 3000×2000 resolution, and full sRGB coverage. Windows includes the color temperature and saturation controls found on other Huawei laptops, and the brightness is high enough for outdoor work.
Performance
Power comes from an Intel Core i7-10510U with four cores and eight threads, boosting up to 4.90 GHz. On graphics, the laptop pairs an NVIDIA GeForce MX250, which is enough for some games and for GPU-dependent programs such as Photoshop and Premiere. The MateBook X Pro (2020) carries 16 GB of RAM and a 1 TB NVMe PCIe SSD. In our testing, the SSD reached read speeds of around 3300 MB/s and write speeds of around 3100 MB/s.
Ports & Connectivity
The box includes a converter that adds HDMI, VGA, USB Type-C, and USB Type-A ports, an accessory that Huawei normally sells separately. The 65W power adapter also ships in the box; it is larger than a typical smartphone adapter but still easy to carry. For wireless, the laptop uses dual-band 802.11ac. It does not include Wi-Fi 6, which a high-end model of this class would benefit from, though users who do not rely on Wi-Fi 6 networks will not miss it.
Multi-Screen Collaboration

The MateBook X Pro (2020) supports Huawei’s Multi-Screen Collaboration with compatible Huawei phones. Users tap the phone to the Huawei Share tag to mirror and control the phone from the laptop. From there, users can drag and drop photos, videos, or documents between the two devices, and copy text on the phone to paste directly into a Word document or a PowerPoint slide.
Battery
A 56 Wh battery powers the laptop, rated for up to 13 hours of video playback. In our experience it covers a full office day on a single charge for lighter workloads. Charging runs through the bundled 65W adapter.
Who Is Huawei MateBook X Pro (2020) For?
The Huawei MateBook X Pro (2020) fits users who want a light, well-built laptop with a sharp 3:2 display and solid productivity performance. The MX250 adds room for lighter gaming and creative apps such as Photoshop and Premiere, and owners of a compatible Huawei phone gain the Multi-Screen Collaboration features. Users who specifically need Wi-Fi 6 will not find it here; for everyone else, the low weight, metal build, and high-resolution screen make it a dependable choice for everyday work and travel.
