Monster Pusat Virtual 7.1 RGB Gaming Headset Review

Overview

The Monster Pusat Virtual 7.1 RGB is a gaming headset built around virtual 7.1 surround, RGB lighting and a concealable microphone. At the time of this review it was priced at $36.99, which placed it at the entry level of the gaming-headset range.

In looks, it leans on RGB lighting accents and a concealable microphone design.

Design

The headset uses 50 mm ear pads that cover the whole ear, a solid headband and a metal frame for structural rigidity. The body is made of black, leather-look plastic. The concealable microphone sits on the left ear pad, and the cable runs two meters.

RGB lighting is placed on both ear pads and can be switched off. An inline controller on the cable handles the RGB LEDs, the microphone, the headset vibration and the volume level.

Performance

The Pusat supports virtual 7.1 surround rather than true hardware surround, so it should not be judged against real surround-sound headsets. We tested it on PC across several games and on the PlayStation 4.

In team and co-op play it does the job well: footstep sounds are easy to track, and the microphone carries clear, understandable voice for team communication. The headset also has vibration that translates bass into physical feedback, and it can be turned off from the inline controller.

Beyond gaming, it also works for listening to music on a computer.

Who it is for

The Monster Pusat Virtual 7.1 RGB suits players who want a virtual-surround gaming headset with RGB lighting, a built-in microphone and bass vibration at a low price, and who do not need true hardware surround.
