The SteelSeries Rival 600 is a right-handed gaming mouse built for competitive and e-sports play. This review looks at how it is built and how it sits in the hand, its dual-sensor tracking system, and the lighting and software that control it.

Design & Grip
The Rival 600 has an ergonomic shape optimized for the right hand, with silicone panels along both sides that add grip. The side panels are removable, and the mouse ships with a set of 4-gram weights that slot into the frame. SteelSeries lists the weight system as offering up to 256 arrangements, so users can tune the total weight and where the balance sits.

Sensor & Performance
The main sensor is the TrueMove3, a 12,000 CPI optical sensor rated at 350 IPS that SteelSeries developed with PixArt. It tracks 1-to-1 across its full 100 to 12,000 CPI range, and its custom SROM firmware reduces response time and improves tracking accuracy.
A second sensor handles lift-off detection. It lets users set the lift-off distance, so tracking stops and restarts at a chosen height when the mouse is picked up and set back down, which cuts out stray cursor movement during repositioning. The second sensor uses linear optical detection and can register lift-off down to 0.5 mm. A 32-bit ARM processor inside the mouse manages the two sensors.
Buttons & Software
The switches are rated for a click lifetime of up to 60 million presses. Lighting is handled through SteelSeries Engine, which exposes eight separate RGB zones, each of which can be controlled individually. In our tests the RGB output leans toward pastel tones rather than deep saturation, but the per-zone control is complete, so users can build their own lighting setups across all eight areas.
Who Is SteelSeries Rival 600 For?
The Rival 600 fits right-handed users who want precise, low-latency tracking and the ability to tune weight and balance to their own grip, particularly for competitive play. The dual-sensor lift-off control and adjustable weight system are its core strengths. It is a right-hand-only shape, so users who need an ambidextrous or left-handed mouse are better served elsewhere; for right-handed players who value fine-grained tracking and a customizable feel, it is a strong fit.
