The Corsair HS70 Wireless is a gaming headset built around a wireless connection, 50 mm drivers, and 7.1 virtual surround support. This review covers the HS70 Wireless across its design and comfort, sound, wireless connection and controls, and battery life, along with the difference between how it behaves on a computer and on a PS4.

The HS70 does not have RGB lighting. For users who prefer a plain, restrained look rather than a lit-up one, that omission suits the design well.

Design & Comfort

The headset is lightweight, with a metal frame joining the two earcups. The build quality is solid and the finish is understated. The ear pads use soft material and enclose the ears fully. The headband adjusts easily to fit the head, including larger head shapes, and the fit stays comfortable over long sessions.

Even with the internal DAC and battery, the HS70 stays light on the head. The 7.1 virtual surround support does not add noticeable weight to the wearing experience.

Sound Quality

The HS70 carries a consistent sound whether it is used for games or for music, which matters for a headset meant for long listening. In our tests we ran it with Battlefield V and Red Dead Redemption 2, and the sound held up well across both. The wireless connection introduces no audible lag during play.

Connections & Controls

The wireless adapter is small, though it does not fit inside the headset itself for storage. It holds a clean connection at up to 12 meters. On a computer, the HS70 works with Corsair Utility Engine (CUE) and its surround options. On a PS4, those software options cannot be used to the same extent, so users who want full CUE and surround control should plan to use the headset with a PC.

Battery

The HS70 charges over a microUSB port. On a full charge, it runs for about 16 hours before it needs recharging, which we confirmed in our own use.

Who Is Corsair HS70 Wireless For?

The Corsair HS70 Wireless fits users who want a lightweight, comfortable wireless gaming headset with a plain design and no RGB lighting. Its 50 mm drivers, 7.1 virtual surround, 12-meter range, and roughly 16-hour battery make it a good match for long PC gaming and music sessions. Users whose main platform is a PS4 should note that the CUE and surround software options are limited there, so the headset is best suited to those who play mostly on a computer.
